The first watches we will be listing here are sports watches. Sport watches distinguish themselves from dress watches by being active watches, meant to see more than the inside of a shirtsleeve. In truth, there are numerous kinds of sports watches, but all generally share some common features:
Built for Intensity: Sports watches see a little bit more action than their formal counterparts. For that reason, they tend to be built with more physical durability than the average watch.
Purpose-driven: Specialized watches such as divers watches require extreme water resistance. Generally, each type of sports watch has its own unique complications, bezels, and other functions to set them apart.
Complications: Speaking of complications, they are a hallmark of any sports watch. These watches aren’t just used for telling time; They are practical multitools which serve a variety of functions.
The sports watches on this list include nautical and pilot’s watches, making it easy to find an all-terrain watch that’s right for you.

The 1950s brought tremendous change to the world. The end of a major world conflict brought renewed international relations, and for the first time in history more people were traveling by plane than by train. The Pursuit World Timer is designed to evoke these early days of mass jet travel, while providing a practical design for any world traveler. The World Timer presents a classic mens watch with some truly timeless design decisions. The 316L stainless steel case melds perfectly with a form-fitting metal bracelet and blue dial with white lettering and indices to achieve a distinctive silhouette. Visibility markers on the hands and indices make it an easy watch to read in any context. An impressive take on a classic watch complication elevates the whole piece to the next level. On the bi-directional rotating bezel, all 24 time zones are represented with the abbreviation for the major international airport correlating to each. A bezel inset with hour markers makes it easy to track the current time in any of these 24, making it perfect for conversation or for calibrating for your next flight. On the caseback, the time zones are repeated, with the city of each major international airport named in full. For a man on the go, the World Timer is built to last. Water resistance of 100 meters protects the watch under normal circumstances, and the sapphire crystal is one of the most durable used on the market. Whereas some metal bracelets are made of one, unwieldy piece, our 316L metal bracelet is made of individual links to allow it to conform to the natural shape of the wrist for maximum comfort. So sit back, relax, and enjoy your flight.Halyard GMT (Was £237.00, Now £190.00)
This next watch also has the 24-hour cycle in mind, but for a very different reason. Long before time zones, many organized time locally by the passage of the sun and the phases of the moon. Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) was used as a standard by many in the english-speaking world, which makes it appropriate for a watch that is truly obsessed with the passage of day and night. The Halyard GMT presents a softly brilliant nautical watch, with a starkly white dial and silver hands, framed by an eye-catching red and blue bezel. The stainless steel case is matched by an equally well-designed metal bracelet. The caseback assuages any confusion there may be over the nature of this watch: An anchor, surrounded by a circle of laurels and the embossed waves of the sea, proudly states the GMT’s heritage as the next in a long line of nautical watches. As with any sports watch, operations under pressure have been given careful consideration. The stainless steel case and bracelet create a watch as enduringly strong as it is enduringly attractive. SuperLuminova markings on the hands, indices, and bezel improve legibility under dark conditions, and water testing at 100 meters helps protect it from water exposure, whether intentional or accidental. The Halyard GMT is compatible with any Jack Mason 22mm strap. The bezel provides the most distinctive aesthetic and functional component of the GMT. Rather than helping you to keep track of 24 different time zones, the bidirectional bezel of the Halyard GMT is split into two distinctly colored twelve-hour periods to signify the divide between day and night, while hour markers allow you to have your time set in multiple specific time zones. Whether engaging on a long-standing sea voyage across multiple time zones, or simply worn in the natural progression of your day-to-day life, the Halyard GMT provides a highly stylized accessory with wide appeal.Automatic Watches
Most watches on this list are made from quartz movements. Quartz watches are battery powered, though the batteries in question are capable of lasting decades, and with a comparable degree of accuracy still maintain a high pedigree. For those seeking a high degree of craftsmanship in their interior components, however, mechanical and automatic watches in some cases still remain the standard. Automatic watches are a subtype of mechanical watches. Whereas quartz watches are powered by a battery, mechanical watches are powered by the tension of an internal spring. This spring needs to be periodically wound, or else the watch will lose tension, accuracy, and eventually stop moving completely. Automatic watches solve this need by including a rotor which charges the spring in response to kinetic energy: In other words, by simply wearing your watch on a daily basis, or by turning it over a few times when not in use, you can keep it fully charged without needing to constantly maintain it.Pursuit Automatic Box Set (£237.00-£262.00)
The Pursuit Automatic pays tribute to classic pilot’s watch designs through a practical focus on high legibility, allowing craftsmanship to shine through both inside and out. The dial features hands and indices marked with Swiss SuperLuminova markings for visibility in the darkest of conditions, and a date window at the 6 o’clock position adds an extra degree of function. Examining the caseback, the strength of the automatic movement makes itself clear: An exhibition window gives a protected view of the Miyota 8215 movement. Speaking of protection: Corrosion-resistant 316L stainless steel, powerful sapphire crystal, and 100 meter water testing all come together to create a watch with as much care going into the machinery as there is in the protection of said machinery. Two versions of the Pursuit Automatic Box Set exist. The first version comes with a PVD plated black stainless steel case, and a black NATO strap. The black dial exists in stark contrast to the white-accented hands and lettering. The second version features a stainless steel case and matching metal bracelet, while showcases a navy dial, gold indices, and white lettering. Both versions of the box set come with a brown full grain leather strap, easily swappable thanks to quick-release pins found on all Jack Mason straps. The Pursuit Automatic refers back to classic design elements, both in the exterior appearance of the watch as well as the movement which powers it. For those who firmly believe in the value of traditional, intricate, mechanical movements, this is the watch for you.Chronograph
The next few watches on this list are chronographs. Chronographs, whose name translates literally to “time writer”, derived from the greek word chronos and the suffix -graph, are highly functional sports watches that feature the traditional hour and minute hands, along with an additional second hand that has the ability to measure elapsed time at the push of a button. The first chronograph, only rediscovered recently, dates back to 1816. Louise Moinet, a French watchmaker, bestowed the title “Compteur de Tierces”, or “counter of thirds”, to this new invention. True to its name, this high-powered chronograph was capable of measuring time with its small subdial to one sixtieth of a second. Aesthetically, chronographs are defined by a few uniform characteristics. Legibility is a major concern in any design. This shows itself in not only the size of the dial and legibility markers themselves, but also in special luminosity markers: Early wristwatches used in wartime were partially coated in radium to ensure visibility in dark conditions, whether in a cockpit or on the ground. Thankfully, modern watches eschew radium for slightly more health-conscious materials. Chronographs are commonly used in flights, as well as in the timing of races. Because accurate measurements are sometimes essential down to the second, chronograph watches must meet exacting standards when compared to their regular counterparts. Chronographs typically feature two complications, though a variety can be found. These are stopwatch functionality, which is self-explanatory, and tachymeters. Tachymeters measure in units of distance per hour, based on when the timer is started and stopped. For instance, if the tachymeter is started at point A, and stopped at point B, the resulting number shown on the tachymeter will be the amount of distances between A and B travelled per hour, much like miles per hour. While stopwatches may have their measuring hands contained in subdials, tachymeters instead tend to have their measurements visible along the outside of the dial.AOPA Pilot’s Chronograph Box Set (Was £409.00, Now £287.00)
The Aircraft Owners and Pilot’s Association was founded on May 15th 1939 to support private aviators, and to protect, assist and celebrate every individual's “freedom to fly”. Decades on, AOPA and Jack Mason join in a collaboration to make a carefully tailored and highly formidable pilot’s watch. Aesthetically, the AOPA Pilot’s Chronograph is made to celebrate aviation in general and AOPA in particular. Every front-facing aspect of the watch, from the subdials, to the individual lettering on the dial and bezel as well as the presence of a date window, to the AOPA logo, a winged shield with the founding date in the center, is meant to provide a design that remains highly informative without appearing highly busy. A black stainless steel case makes the chronograph a visually appealing, aesthetically unique design. The caseback repeats the AOPA name while printing their logo and motto in large, with the Jack Mason name represented below to emphasize the union of our passions for fine aircraft and fine watches. Also showcased on the caseback are many of the unique design elements that have been carefully considered when making the watch. Starting from the top: The acrylic crystal was specially chosen for the material due to its durability and the flexibility it provides under changing air pressures. Trigalight and Superluminova markings on the hands and indices on both the dial and the subdials create a highly legible, tri-color appearance in darkness, maximizing legibility of the dial and the tachymeter and stopwatch complications under the harshest of conditions. Like any powerful watch, the Pilot’s Chronograph has been water tested at 100 meters. The highlight of the AOPA Pilot’s Chronograph’s design, however, is found in the movement. Magnetism can provide a highly dangerous complication for any watch, impacting readings and potentially damaging the delicate machinery inside the watch. For that reason, the Swiss Ronda Caliber 5030.D chronograph movement has been outfitted with an anti-magnetic movement guard to aid in airborne functionality. The box set comes with an additional bonus: both a brown leather strap and a black nato strap come included with this 45mm watch. Thanks to quick release pins, it is easy to swap them out at home, whether you want the style of full-grain leather, or the classic comfort and slip proof protection of a nato strap. Either way, you’ll soon be ready to take to the skies with this all-purpose chronograph, a pilot’s watch truly designed for pilots.Sale Highlight: Our Renewable Efforts
Jack Mason has more than just watches on sale. Just as we value collaboration and high achievement, so too is sustainability high on our list. Below are some of our offerings made with the planet in mind.Cork Strap (Was £33.00, Now £17.00)
Cork may seem an untraditional material for a watch strap, summoning the image of a cork board more than a fashionable item. However, cork fabric is actually a remarkably soft material, whose durability makes it appropriate for an item that may be exposed to daily use. Because of the ease and reduced chemical usage in both the harvesting and processing phases, cork is a highly eco-friendly material. The Cork strap is compatible with any Jack Mason 40mm watch case, as well as the Solar Watch which we will be discussing next.Dress Watch
No comprehensive watch list would be complete without mention of a dress watch. While the below watch is not on sale, we’ve included it because of how competitive it remains with the others on this list. Dress watches differ from chronograph watches and sports watches in a dramatic way. These watches are best at home at formal gatherings, or at the office. While you certainly could wear a dress watch in most contexts, they are designed to serve more form than function. After all, it’s generally considered impolite to look at your watch when interacting with people on a personal level. Sports watches are all about more, more, more, in a bid to serve as much functionality in a single accessory as possible. Dress watches tend in the other direction, featuring minimalist designs meant to subtly accent entire outfits. This also tends to lead to dress watches being smaller and thinner as a result.A Watch For All Seasons
Sports watches, automatic watches, chronograph watches, and dress watches all make an appearance in the list above. Whether you want a watch that serves a specific practical function, makes the perfect companion to any kind of event, plots a course for environmental resurrection, or harkens to the design elements which contributed to what made watches desirable in the first place, Jack Mason has a watch to satisfy any need at any price point.
